Netflix has officially confirmed that thePeaky Blindersmovie is under development. The movie will mark the return of Cillian Murphy as the iconic Thomas Shelby. The streaming service also shared that the movie will be directed by Tom Harper and written by Steven Knight, the same pairing behind the show’s production.
This news was broken by Netflix through a social media post on July 07, 2025, with an image of the movie’s script where Murphy, Knight, and Harper were credited. The post also carried a caption that reads: “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me…It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version ofPeaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.” The quote is from Cillian Murphy, who has portrayed the character for six seasons.

Director Tom Harper reminisced about the start of his journey, working onPeaky Blinders. He said, “When I first directedPeaky Blindersover 10 years ago, we didn’t know what the series would become, but we did know that there was something in the alchemy of the cast and the writing that felt explosive.”
Peaky Blindersarrived as a TV series all the way back in 2013, with its final season airing in 2022. Netflix’s announcement has not revealed any plot details and while conversations about a movie have been around for years now, it is unclear if the production has already commenced.
