EA Sports College Football 26seems to be taking cues from theNBA 2Kseries, and it may be better for it.CFBandNBA 2Kmay have more in common than you think: despite portraying two different sports and having two different developers, they’re both annual franchises witha similar collection of game modes.

It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, then, that one game is taking inspiration from the other;NBA 2Khas been around a lot longer thanCFB, at least in its current revival, and so has a lot of new innovations for the newer series to learn from. These quality-of-life changes could help bringCFBinto a new era, with small changes having an enormous impact on the way the game is played.

College Football 26 Will Have Dynamic Substitutions

Swap Players At The Line Of Scrimmage

As revealed by therecentCFB 26beta, the upcoming game willallow you to swap out players at the last minute, up to and including the point that they’re at the line of scrimmage. This is a really great feature: oftentimes inCFB(orMadden), you’ll set a play, only to realize too late that you don’t have the best player possible in a key position. InCollege Football 25, you might’ve just had to sit there and live with it, since, once your players reached the line of scrimmage, there wasn’t much more you could do.

Now, though, you’ll be able to make last-minute adjustments to your lineup. No more having to run an imperfect play just because it was too late to change it; as long as you get there before the snap, you can swap everyone around to give your upcoming play the biggest possible chance of success.

These Seem To Be Inspired By NBA 2K’s Subs

Taking Cues From 2K

This new feature seems to be inspired by a similar one that already existsin theNBA 2Kseries: immediate substitutions, also known as subs. In the simplest terms, this feature allows you to swap out players at just about any point in the game: simply open the pause menu, and there should be an option for substitutions. You can then scroll through a list of all your players on the bench, and choose who’s in and who’s out. On the next dead ball, your substitution will take place automatically.

The moment you see a player isn’t working, you’re able to sub them out and try a different strategy, instead of having to wait.

The purpose of this feature is pretty consistent across both games:it makes your team incredibly flexible. The moment you see a player isn’t working, you can sub them out and try a different strategy, instead of having to wait for the right opportunity.

Swapping Players At The Line Of Scrimmage Is A Nice Update For CFB 26

More Flexibility Is Always A Good Thing

It’s easy to see how such a simple feature can add so much toCFB 26. Flexibility is an important aspect of the game - whether you’re playingRoad to Glory or Dynasty Mode, you’ll need to be able to adjust your strategies on the fly to ensure you can win games reliably and progress through the campaign. Having a stacked playbook and knowing when to use it can get you pretty far, but sometimes, you need to make big changes on the fly. This new addition, allowing players to swap out their players as late as the line of scrimmage, will bring a whole new degree of flexibility toEA Sports College Football 26.
