In fact, their Top 10 biggest hits are all entries in the horror genre, including the Oscar-winning Jordan Peele movieGet Out, the video game adaptationFive Nights at Freddy’s, and the viral smash hit killer doll movieM3GAN.
Blumhouse has also had a hand in establishing multiple major horror franchisesincludingThe Purge,Paranormal Activity, andInsidious. Additionally, bothM3GANandFive Nights at Freddy’shave sequels set to debut before the end of 2025. The company has also been behind new installments in pre-established franchises in the genre, including a new trilogy ofHalloweenmoviesand 2023’sThe Exorcist: Believer, which will be followed by an untitled installment directed by Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House,Midnight Mass).

PerDeadline, Blumhouse announced thata sequel toMais in the worksduring their Business of Fear symposium on Tuesday. Octavia Spencer is set to return, reprising the title role. No further details about the project have been revealed at the time of writing. It seems that the sequel will reveal that she ultimately changed her mind about accepting her fate.
