One scene near the end ofSinnerspits Smoke and Stack, who are both played by Michael B. Jordan, against each other.Reviews forSinnershave been incredible, and it is arguably the best work of Jordan’s career since he plays two roles in the film. InSinners, which isdirected by Ryan Coogler, whom Jordan has collaborated with several times in the past, Smoke and Stack are clearly very close with each other. They grew up in Mississipi, and it is revealed that Smoke killed their father when they were young because of how much he beat Stack.

Since this incident, Smoke and Stack have seemingly been inseparable. The twin brothers left Mississippi and lived in Chicago for several years. However, inSinners, they decide to return home and start a club in their town after committing several crimes in Chicago. Tragically, since Stack is turned into a vampire in the movie, the brothers have to go their separate ways at theend ofSinners. While Stack lives on as a vampire, Smoke seemingly dies of a gunshot wound and reunites with Annie and his child in the afterlife.

Jordan Seamlessly Plays Two Characters In Sinners

After Remmick, the main villain of the film, discovers Smoke and Stack’s club, Mary becomes his victim. Mary is quickly invited back into the club and seduces Stack, tragically turning him into a vampire. While Smoke and Stack have spent their entire lives together, they are now on opposite sidesand are forced to fight each other. This fight takes place duringSinners’climax, during which Stack tries to turn Smoke into a vampire.

This fight scene highlights how technically impressiveSinnersis, as Coogler and his team would have had to use body doubles and face-swapping technologyduring such an intense scene with a lot of movement. Smoke gets the best of Stack in this scene, but it is later revealed that he couldn’t kill him. This leads to Stack returning in thepost-credits scene ofSinners, which takes place in 1992.
