Not too long ago,Bloombergreleased a report asserting thata cheaper Switch would “likely” launch in June- the month that E3 2019 will be taking place - and it has led to speculation thatNintendowould make an announcement of some sort at the expo regarding a new version of the Switch. Following this report, Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa has decided to clear the air on the matter and declare that the video game company has no intentions of revealing new hardware for the Switch during E3 2019.

This much has been confirmed during a recentNintendoearnings event, with Furukawa saying that there was nothing to announce in regards to possible new hardware for the Switch. That said, though, the Nintendo CEO did state that the company is always developing and working on hardware internally, which potentially leaves the door open for a possible reveal of new versions of the Switch in the future.

For quite a while, many have been speculating that Nintendo has been working on releasing a new Switch model at a lower price to both boost sales and increase the console’s overall install base. On top of this, a report fromThe Wall Street Journalabout a month back indicated that the Big N would also be releasinga Switch “Pro” with a premium price pointthat would offer an enhanced experience.

As of now, while Nintendo’s official statement on the matter refutes the possibility for any new hardware announcements related to the Switch during E3 2019, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the company won’t ever release different models for the console in the future. After all, should the Big N eventually put outa smaller Switch in 2019that focuses solely on the system’s portability, the company could cater primarily to on-the-go gamers and manage to continue cornering that niche market where the Nintendo 3DS has succeeded.

All things considered, we will simply have to wait and see what else Nintendo has in store for Switch fans when it comes to fresh hardware related to the brand. With no hardware news for the Switch coming out of E3 2019, everyone will have to keep their eyes peeled for any potential announcements coming fromNintendolater on in the year.
