Nintendohas officially announced its Gamescom lineup, and it’s a pretty strong one. Gamescom, the gaming trade show, takes place every year in Cologne, Germany, and offers a glimpse at the biggest games and developments coming up in the gaming industry.
This year’s Gamescom will take place August 20 through 25 and will be extra exciting, as many highly anticipated titles will be making an appearance on the show floor. Nintendo will be in attendance this year, along with its new Nintendo Switch 2 and somefirst- and third-party game demos. These will give attendees a chance toget hands-on with some huge titles that are coming out soon.

There’s only one problem: the people who will actually be buying these games won’t get to try them. Releasing demos for Gamescom makes sense so that journalists and critics can report on them. Following Gamescom, though,Nintendo should also make these demos available for everyone to play.
Metroid Prime 4 And Others Are Playable At Gamescom
An Epic Return To The Prime Franchise
Nintendo is bringing some games to Gamescom that have already been released, likeSuper Mario Party Jamboree,Donkey Kong BananzaandMario Kart World. But the gaming giant is also debuting a demo forMetroid Prime 4: Beyondis one ofNintendo’s most highly anticipated games.
Though there’s no official release date yet, the game is supposed to be released sometime in 2025,18 years afterMetroid Prime 3launched for the Nintendo Wii. The upcoming game’s appearance at Gamescom is good news, since it’llgive fans a chance to vicariously experience a previewat the hands of Gamescom attendees. It’s even possible thatMetroid Prime 4will get a release date at the event.

But the demo should also be released to the general public, so all fans can try the game. Letting the demo out of the confines of Gamescom would be win-win for Nintendo sinceit would boost engagement with fans. Players would get a chance to try the game ahead of time and get even more excited about the upcoming return to theMetroid Primefranchise.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A Should Get A Public Demo Too
Is It More Like Arceus Or Scarlet & Violet?
One other notable game that’s coming to Gamescom as a demo isPokémon Legends: Z-A. UnlikeMetroid Prime 4,Z-Adoes have a release date of October 16 this year, and many fans havealready preordered the game.
Those who are on the fence about getting the game might beswayed by getting to play the demo. The previousLegendsgame,Pokémon Legends: Arceuswas a huge hit among fans, but the mainline Gen 9 titleScarlet & Violethad a more mixed response from the community, especially as it released riddled with bugs.

Nintendoshould release thePokémon Legends: Z-AGamescom demo to the public, too, so anyone who’s unsure can check it out and see for themselves which of the two titles the upcoming game most resembles.
