Level-5 President Akihiro Hino has confirmed that a newNi no Kunititle is now in the works, following the still relatively fresh announcement thatthe first game is getting a remaster. Hino also revealed that Level-5 plans to turnNi no Kuniinto a much bigger franchise for the company.
While the Level-5 President obviously didn’t reveal a lot about the new title, he did say that it would release shortly after theNi no Kunianimated movie, which is slated to release on August 29th in Japanese theatres (there currently doesn’t seem to be any word about it coming to the West). Considering how soon that is and the fact that we’ve not seen or heard anything about it until now, it’s unlikely that this new title will be a massive RPG like the previous two games. Hino did add that a smartphone app related to the series would release later as well, so it’s possible this new project is a mobile game.
BeyondNi no Kuni, Hino also revealed that the upcomingYokai Watch 4will have ties to its own animated movie due out this year on December 13th (again, no sign of a Western release). Hino said that it was the first Level-5 title to have been developed from the very start as a Nintendo Switch game, following onthe company’s promiseto make games for the console/handheld hybrid back in 2016.
It wasn’t all game announcements, though, as Hino added that the company is currently reviewing its development process, following a string of multiple delays to the likes of the aforementionedYokai Watch 4,Inazuma Eleven Ares no Tenbin(which still doesn’t have a definitive release date), andlast year’sNi no Kuni 2, (though that didn’t stop it from being praised by critics when it did release). By the end of 2019, Level-5 plans to solidify its footholds and fully regain the trust of its customers.
Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remasteredwill release on September 20th for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC.
