WithPokémon Legends: Z-A’s October release date quickly approaching and a Pokémon Presents happening on July 22nd, Pokémon fans are eager to find out what’s in store for them. However, with so much aboutPokémon Legends: Z-Aalready having been revealed,it seems more likely that The Pokémon Company may be hoping to share other news during this presentation.

Now that the Nintendo Switch 2 has been on the market for over a month, and restocks are slowly becoming less scarce, most of the people who had been looking to purchase one have finally been able to. However, there are also people like me who have yet to upgrade because they’re waiting for something a bit more special, like aPokémon Legends: Z-ASpecial Edition Nintendo Switch 2.

My Big Wish For Pokémon Presents Is A Special Edition Console

A New Pokémon Game Is The Perfect Opportunity To Unveil A Special Edition Switch 2

Throughout the Nintendo Switch’s lifespan, several special edition consoles were released, including in the first year. If Nintendo had a big launch, there was likely going to be a special edition Switch for it, which caused a lot of players to hold off on buying or upgrading a launch-model Switch until one came along that convinced them. Given how successful these were,it seems only fitting that Nintendo would do this for the Switch 2 to boost sales and encourage those who haven’t been convinced yet to make the purchase.

At the moment, I have no reason to upgrade my Switch and have been patiently waiting for either an exclusive game or some other feature to pique my interest in the idea, but aPokémon Legends: Z-ANintendo Switch 2 would be just the thing to do it.It’s the first notablePokémongame to launch on the Switch 2,and with no news about Gen 10 yet, it’s the perfect opportunity to take advantage of launching one of the Switch 2’s first special edition consoles, and might even help boost sales for the game itself.

How Likely Is A Pokémon Legends Z-A Console?

A Special Edition Switch 2 Is Likely, But Maybe Not In The Way You Think

As for whether aPokémon Legends Z-Aspecial edition Switch 2 will be unveiled this month, there’s simply no way to know untilThe Pokémon Presents on July 22nd. However, I would say there’s a good chance that it could happen. Yes, we are very close to the console’s actual launch, butthe Nintendo Switch also had some special editions launch within the same year as its release. That being said, they weren’t fully designed Nintendo Switch consoles; they primarily just offered alternative Joy-Con colors.

While I do think it’s too close to the Switch 2’s launch to release something as elaborate as theZelda: Tears of the KingdomSwitch with a full dock design and everything, I do think we could see a smaller-scale special edition announced. While Charizard certainly already gets its fair share of the spotlight when it comes toPokémon, I could even seea special edition with Joy-Cons based on Charizard’s Megas, one for Mega Charizard X and one for Mega Charizard Y.

At the end of the day,Legends: Z-Ais still just a spin-off and not a mainline game, soNintendo will likely save the big special edition announcement for Gen 10 when it launches, but that doesn’t mean Nintendo and TPCi will ignore the firstPokémongame launching on the Nintendo Switch 2either, especially if it could help encourage people to upgrade to the Switch 2 whenPokémon Legends: Z-Alaunches on October 16th, 2025.
