Fans have been waiting for a newSplinter Cellgame since 2013’sBlacklist, and now it looks like those hopes may finally be realized. It appears as though GameStop may have leaked that a newSplinter Cellgame will be announced during Ubisoft’s E3 2019 press conference on Monday, June 10.

As spotted by Wario64 on Twitter, GameStop listed replica Sam Fisher Goggles for sale on its website for $39.99, listing them as an “E3 collectible.” GameStop then delisted the goggles, leading to speculation that they were added to the website in error. It seems odd for GameStop to sell newSplinter Cellmerchandise if a new game in the series isn’t going to be announced, especially if the goggles are supposed to be an “E3 collectible.”

Ubisoft has a pattern of announcing new games in its big franchises at the end of its E3 presentations in a “one more thing” kind of way. We’ve seen it revealRainbow Six Siege,Watch Dogs, and more using this method in the past, so it seems like if a newSplinter Cellgame is announced, it will come at the end of the Ubisoft press conference.

Due to the popularity of theSplinter Cellfranchise, it seems unlikely that Ubisoft would just leave it dormant forever, so a newSplinter Cellgame just seems like a matter of “when.” Now, it’s entirely possible a newSplinter Cellgame won’t be announced at E3 2019 and we must stress that, but there is at least some evidence that the game could be in development.

In fact, a few weeks ago, some Ubisoft developers straight-uptweeted about a newSplinter Cell. Ubisoft then came forward to say that it was just a joke.

Whether or not the Ubisoft devs were joking is up for debate, but it’s worth noting thatgame industry analysts do expect a newSplinter Cellfor 2019. The day these Sam Fisher Goggles are to go on sale may even reveal the game’s release date, as they will be available on Friday, November 1, and video games typically release on Tuesdays and Fridays. This would match analyst predictions of a 2019 release forSplinter Cell.

Ubisoft’s E3 2019 press conference on June 10 at 1:00pm PT should offer definitive answers about a potential newSplinter Cellgame. Until then, fans should keep their expectations in check.
