The impressive ensemble cast, including Michiel Huisman, Carla Gugino, and Timothy Hutton, also makes for a series that’s hard to turn off.

Sure, it’s wrapped up in disturbing imagery and shockingly destabilizing scenes, but the reason the limited series works so well is that Flanagan makes it easy for us to care about the Crains.
