Warning: Contains spoilers for My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. One of the best parts aboutMy Hero Academia: Vigilantesis the extended look it gives into the lives of characters from the original series. Whether it’s adding a little more to major characters or finally giving some minor characters their due,Vigilantesis always good about fleshing out its returning cast along with the new ones, and that only gets better as the story moves further along.
My Hero Academia’s returning characters are as much the stars inVigilantesas the new ones, and no one exemplifies that better than Eraser Head i.e. Shota Aizawa. As Izuku’s teacher, Aizawa was already one of the adult figures with the most development and overall relevance in the original series, and sure enough,My Hero Academia: Vigilantesgives Aizawa even more development and prominence by showing off even more of what makes him such a great character. That can be seen as early as the first two episodes, and overall, it’s a great sign of what’s to come.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Is Already Reminding Fans Why Aizawa Is So Cool
Aizawa Is Still One Of My Hero’s Best Characters, By Far
Aizawa first appeared inMy Hero Academia: Vigilanteswhen he tried to arrestthe vigilante Knuckledusterafter he assaulted someone in broad daylight, and not only did he keep pace with Knuckleduster, even after the series established how inhumanly strong Knuckleduster was, but he ended up being the only one who could stop some instant villains through a combination of his Quirk and raw power.Every scene featuring Aizawa inMy Hero Academia: Vigilanteshas done nothing but show off how powerful a hero he is, and there will only be more scenes like that, going forward.
All of that is especially great when remembering where Aizawa has ended up in the main series. InMy Hero Academia’s most recent seasons, Aizawa has constantly been suffering gruesome injuries to the point that he can’t use his Quirk by the final battle and needs to have Monoma copy it as opposed to fighting on his own. It’s been far too long since Aizawa got to be a genuine part of the action, soMy Hero Academia: Vigilantes’ handling of Aizawa serves as a perfect reminder of how capable he is after being repeatedly sidelined in the main series.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Will Give Aizawa The Arc He Deserves
Why My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Will Be So Great For Aizawa
Aizawa had a great showing inVigilantes’ first two episodes, and it won’t stop there.Vigilantestakes place before Aizawa started teaching at U.A., and not only does the series eventually show how he became a teacher, butMy Hero Academia: Vigilantesalso showcases how becoming a teacher helped bring Aizawa out of his shell and become the strict, yet supportive figure he’s shown to be in the main series. That context was sorely lacking in the main series, and seeing it inVigilantesdoes a lot to round out his character.
The biggest thing to look forward to, however, isAizawa’s backstory with Shirakumo. The main series didn’t explore much of their relationship beyond the bare minimum, butVigilantesgoes into a full-length arc exploring Aizawa and Shirakumo’s friendship and how much of an effect Shirakumo had on Aizawa, even in death, soMy Hero Academia: Vigilanteswill be great for Aizawa for showing the backstory with Shirakumo the main series never had time for. Between his character development and fight scenes,My Hero Academia: Vigilantesis great for Aizawa’s character, and hopefully, the anime will be able to cover everything.
