My Hero Academiahas begun teasing its final season with a new trailer, showcasing the final struggle for the fate of Japan. The new trailer hits some interesting moments, and emphasizes the parallels between All Might’s battle with All for One and Deku’s battle with Shigaraki.

The new trailer, released on Monday, focuses heavily on the Armored All Might fight, which was left hanging during the final episode of season 7. There even appears to be some new footage, indicating that the fight sequence may be extended a bit from how it was in the manga. The final season is certainly highly anticipated by fans, both those who’ve read the manga and those who haven’t. It’s expected to be a shorter season, based on how many chapters are left to adapt, but that merely provides the series with a perfect bookend, as the first season was shorter than average as well.

My Hero Academia’s New Trailer Shows the Struggle Against Evil

All Might’s Last Stand Makes for An Impressive Trailer

The new trailer opens with Shigaraki being bound by Deku, before transitioning to All Might, in his power armor suit, battling against All for One, who has continued to grow younger as he takes on new damage. It cuts back and forth between the two battles, showing off some of the more extreme Quirks at All for One’s disposal, as well as some of All Might’s technology. The trailer, which is currently only available in unsubtitled Japanese, seems to be drawing parallels between the two fights, as master battles master and student battles student.

There are a few other conflicts still active, but the final battles between Deku and Shigaraki and All for One and All Might make up the bulk of what remains of the final war in the manga. The trailer keeps the focus on the battle itself, and doesn’t show anything of the epilogue, which ought to take up the last few episodes. With All Might’s armor clearly in bad shape in the trailer, much of the speculation among fans who haven’t read the manga is centered on whether All Might will actually survive this final battle, or if the Symbol of Peace will go down in a noble sacrifice.

My Hero Academia’s Ending is Coming

The Final Season Debuts in October

While a specific release date has not yet been revealed, it is known thatMy Hero Academiaseason 8 will be returning in October, and will be simultaneously streamed on Crunchyroll for most of the world outside of Asia, just like the last few seasons.Fans have hadMy Hero Academia Vigilantes, the spinoff/prequel’s anime adaptation, to help tide them over as they wait for the final season, butVigilantesis quickly approaching its own season finale, which will leave fans with a few months devoid ofMy Hero Academiacontent before season 8 debuts.

It will be interesting to see exactly how the end ofMy Hero Academiawill be handled. The manga’s run inShonen Jumpended with chapter 430, but a chapter 431 was released with the final collected volume. Will the anime adapt chapter 431, or leave it alone unadapted? That could have a big effect on how well anime-only fans receive the ending. Hopefully,My Hero Academiawill see as much as possible adapted, giving it the best shot at an ending worthy of its fans.
