NetherRealm Studios’Mortal Kombat 11will receive itsAftermathDLC expansion on May 26, and while some elements likeStage Fatalitieswill be free to all players, one of its biggest draws is the three new paid fighter additions: Fujin, Sheeva, and RoboCop. As a guest character to the franchise, RoboCop is the most hotly anticipated, and NetherRealm continues to capitalize on this with an introductory video posted to its YouTube channel earlier today.
The “Meet RoboCop” video is fittingly narrated by Johnny Cage, a movie star in theMortal Kombatuniverse who has “heard the legends of RoboCop since he was in diapers” according to the description. Cage describes some of RoboCop’s infamy as clips of him doing battle with other fighters play in the background that feature everything from bashing in skulls with a riot shield to using guns, grenade launchers, and blades to really do damage. It also showcases hisBrutality alongside the mech ED-209.

The video ends with Cage being blown to smithereens by RoboCop, capping off a nice homage to the titular star of Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 sci-fi classic. The array of combat options available to RoboCop make him look like an enticing character forMortal Kombat 11, and the fact that many of them are references makes it even sweeter for fans.
These violent delights will be offset by the addition of returning Friendship match enders for every character inMortal Kombat 11’sAftermathDLC.Geoff Keighley revealed RoboCop’s Friendshipyesterday as part of his Summer Game Fest, giving fans the chance to see him finish a battle by performing the Robot dance.
Though RoboCop has taken much of the spotlight inAftermath’s marketing, Fujin andSheeva have also received trailersshowcasing the unique fighting styles they will bring to the long-running fighting game staple once it updates this week. It’s a good time to be aMortal Kombatfan, and hopefully Fujin, Sheeva, and RoboCop live up to the hype NetherRealm has stoked.
