NetherRealm Studios announcedMortal Kombat 11just two months ago during The Game Awards 2018, but since then has kept a steady pace by unveiling members of thefighting game’s rosterat a rate of one per week. This afternoon, however, the developer broke with tradition by first announcing Kabal forMortal Kombat 11and then director Ed Boon revealed D’Vorah on Microsoft’s Inside Xbox stream.

While Kabal received its very own gameplay trailer,D’Vorahwill unfortunately have to wait a while longer for her full unveiling. What the development team was willing to show will likely have fans talking just as much as a gameplay trailer, however. Just a single screenshot of D’Vorah was shared on Inside Xbox, but it shows just how the events ofMortal Kombat 10have changed the walking Kytinn insect colony.

Those familiar withMortal Kombat 10will recall that, despite her yellow coloring, D’Vorah looked somewhat like a human wearing a jacket and hood. She only looked human-ish until she started using abilities, like opening up her carapace and ejecting any number of insects or harmful sprays.

D’Vorah inMortal Kombat 11has abandoned her jacket and cowl, allowing players to see just what kind of creature hides beneath. Her bare shoulders are shown to be open hives by which the Kytinn insects inside of her can escape. Her arms and upper body are shown to be layered individual pieces of carapace and flesh. And it looks like D’Vorah has also decided to grow her hair out…or hair-like antennae.

The changes that NetherRealm has made to D’Vorah are likely to be somewhat controversial, as some might prefer her old look to the much more gruesome truth of her form. However, when it comes toMortal Kombat 11’sextremely brutal style, there’s no argument that D’Vorah will fit right in. Expect more information on D’Vorah, including gameplay, in the days or weeks to come.

Mortal Kombat 11releases April 23 on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
