A few days ago, the internet was taken over by variousScooby-Doorelated memes that portrayed the character, Shaggy Rogers, as an incredibly OP, Godlike figure. This led to a petition to add Scooby’s munchies-loving best friend to the roster forMortal Kombat 11, with that petition having 275,000+ signatures at the time of this writing. AlthoughMK11’s directorEd Boon did respond to a fanabout this petition on Twitter, he made it seem as if it were highly unlikely, though that hasn’t stopped Boon from having his own fun with this meme.

Once again posting to Twitter, Ed Boon has elected to share an impressive mockup of Shaggy facing off against Scorpion inMortal Kombat 11.Notably, Scorpion’s custom move variation set is titled “Boon’s Main,” whereas Shaggy’s moveset is “Hack and Slash,” which seems antithetical to the bonafide cartoon version of the character.

Because of the popularity of the viral Shaggy memes, the comments section of this post is full of people asking for Shaggy to truly be added to theMortal Kombat 11 roster. And notably, it’s not outside the realm of possibility, as Warner Bros. has rights to the Shaggy character, but the chances of it actually happening seem incredibly small.

That said, fans of the meme andMortal Kombat 11have been continuing to sign the petition, which likely started off as a joke. It managed to hit acrazy milestone in just 24 hoursand has held strong since, reaching its current 275K+ status in just 5 days. This would roughly translate to around 55,000 signatures per day.

At the end of the day, it would be a real shocker to see Shaggy added to the incredibly violent fighting game, butMortal Kombat 11fans are slowly learning more and more about the actual roster. In fact, despite the Kombat Kast being delayed due to a polar vortex, the developer went on to confirm the addition onfan-favorite Kano to the fighting roster. He may not be as powerful as Shaggy at 1% of his power, but it’ll have to do.

Mortal Kombat 11releases August 17, 2025, for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
