A new report has claimed that 2025 will see even more Xbox console exclusives come to PlayStation 5, including flagship franchises likeHaloandGears of War.

In recent years, we’ve undoubtedly seen a relaxing of exclusivity in certain areas (Nintendo excluded). PlayStation games have come to PC, while some Xbox console exclusives likeSea of Thieveshave made their way to PS. It’s not perfect, but it’s much better than it used to be when console wars used to set the internet ablaze with arguments over exclusives.

Some Xbox console exclusives might come to PlayStation in 2025

JournalistJez Corden, reporting for Windows Central, has corroborated recent reports that Microsoft plans to take several of its core console exclusives multiplatform this year. It’s quite a selection of titles, including the following:

If you’d have asked most gamers even a few years ago, they’d have said hell would freeze over before we saw the Master Chief on PlayStation 5. Now, it seems both he and Marcus Fenix, two of Xbox’s key mascots in the 2000s and early 2010s, are set to make the surprising jump. With something this monumental, it feels like the opening of a floodgate that would be difficult to close if needed.

Corden’s report also confirms that this isn’t a one-way thing either, suggesting thatFinal Fantasy 7 RemakeandRebirthwill come to Xbox at some point in the future. A reminder that as these plans are just rumors right now, they can always change.

If Xbox were to allow its killer apps to move to PlayStation, its future in the hardware space would remain to be seen. Last year,Phil Spencer confirmed Microsoft is working on an Xbox handheld device, but whether that will be enough to keep it competitive against a seemingly surging PlayStation 5 is another matter entirely.
