The many achievements available inMinecraftprompted one player to seek out a rare type of frog in their world, though hazardous weather conditions and some hilariously bad luck resulted in the game robbing them of their potential achievement at the last moment. Just one of the many types of friendly mobs roaming the world ofMinecraft, frogs are a somewhat recent addition to the game and can offer some surprising additions to gameplay.
Introduced inMinecraft’s Wild Update which was released in 2022, frogs are adorable ambient mobs that prefer to reside in the regular and mangrove swamp biomes that populate players' worlds. Surprisingly, their diet often consists of slimes and even magma cubes, and frogs will even produce froglight blocks upon consumption of the Nether-dwelling creatures. These valuable blocks are just one of the many light sources available inMinecraft, and players can obtain different variations of froglight depending on the type of frog that produces one. This system adds a good level of depth to the mob and gives players a reason to discover different variations of frogs which can each be obtained by raising tadpoles in specific biomes.

In addition to acquiring their unique loot, players can alsoclaim an advancement inMinecraftappropriately named “When the Squad Hops into Town” by getting each different variation of frog on a lead. A player on Reddit named Advanced-Ant2816 shared a clip of their experience with frogs going horribly wrong while trying to grab this achievement themselves. This player had just arrived back at their home with a frog in tow, one which they had escorted from a swamp biome over a distance of around 3000 blocks away, only for their amphibious companion to be taken from them right before their eyes by a bolt of lightning.
As tragic as this experience is, it certainly demonstrates that finding a frog-inhabited swamp biome often isn’t an easy thing to do.Minecraft’s roster of biomesis incredibly diverse, and while many of its environments typically generate in quite a predictable manner, players can look forward to seeing new sights in their worlds thanks to the new biome that will be added with the 1.20 Trails and Tales update. In addition to the flowery cherry grove biome, fans will also see tweaks to some existing biomes as well as several new mobs.
Minecraft’s 1.20 update has been anticipated for the community for some time now, with Mojang opting to drip-feed information regarding the features that it will bring instead of announcing them all at too early a point, a problem which the developers have run into with their last few updates.Minecraft’s next major updatepromises to bring many welcome additions for builders and adventurers alike and is expected to release later this year.
