The song seems to be about falling in love and spending time with a romantic partner while the world is falling apart around them. However, in a live performance, Cyrus told a different story. The “Flowers” singerperformed the song at the Chateau Marmont back in November 2023and released the clip on April 17th, 2025. Before performing a stripped-down, emotional version of the single, Cyrus told the audience that she wrote the song for her mother, Tish Cyrus.
With this perspective, the song takes on a whole new meaning. Cyrus has always been very close to her mother, and the family has briefly opened up about the strained relationship with their father, Billy Ray Cyrus.
