The breakout success of online gacha RPGGenshin Impactsince its release late in 2020 has propelled MiHoYo into one of the biggest names in the gaming industry. The RPG has maintained its position as one of the most highly discussed games onsocial media platforms like Twittersince its launch and the game’s gacha banners have earned MiHoYo hundreds of millions of dollars. WithGenshin’s success begging for a follow-up, MiHoYo announced its newest game,Honkai: Star Rail, late last year with its first closed beta test and recently returned with more news about the in-development RPG.
Revealed inOctober of last year,Honkai: Star Railtakes closer inspiration from MiHoYo’s original flagship franchise,Honkai Impact 3rd, sharing many of the same exploration elements fromGenshinbut with a more science-fiction-inspired setting.Star Rail, however, differs from its predecessors with a major shift in the game’s combat, trading off the real-time combat ofGenshinandHonkaifor a more traditional turn-based combat system. Now, MiHoYo’s newest announcement for the upcoming RPG officially reveals open signups for the game’s second closed beta test.

Honkai: Star Rail’s second closed beta test comes as MiHoYo recently has hit a snag with its most popular title. After heavy speculation surrounding potential delays, theGenshin Impactdeveloper officially announcedGenshin Impact’s Version 2.7 update would be delayedwith many believing the uncharacteristic delay to be a result of recent COVID-19 lockdowns in Shanghai where the developer’s headquarters is located. While MiHoYo has not yet confirmed whether the delays would affect any of its other games, the developer’s passionate fans will soon get a chance to experience its newest adventure.
