It’s been a big week for the recently announcedMiddle-earth: Shadow of War, after a lengthy gameplay trailer showed off many new mechanics and gameplay showing players building an army to oppose the Dark Lord Sauron. The gameplay also showed off theexpanded Nemesis System, which then raised a number of questions as well, including the possibility of letting players import a save file fromMiddle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

After checking with a Warner Bros representative, Monolith Productions creative vice president Michael de Plater remained cagey about the subject and confirmed that they’re not saying anything at this time. In this instance, it’s really more about what de Plater didn’t say, as in this case, he didn’t outright say no and even went to check with a representative before giving any answer at all. Either way, it appears the team is waiting to reveal the news in full, perhaps at E3, or they’re still considering it beforeShadow of Warlaunches later this year.

Considering how unique the experience is for each and every player thanks to the Nemesis System, on paper it makes sense to allow players to transfer a save file from its predecessor.Shadow of Warappears to be a game aboutbanding together an army, so being able to pull in Warchiefs and other Uruks to join Talion’s army from a previousShadow of Mordorsave file makes a lot of sense.

While there’s still a fair amount of details that fans don’t know quite yet, the gameplay trailer did show off a lot of big moments players will be seeing once the game arrives. The Nemesis System has been expanded to include feelings of friendship and loyalty now, rather than just revenge and betrayal. These moments can lead to really unique events in game such as when afriendly archer helps the player take out a minor bosscharacter, or perhaps saving the day during a big Warchief battle.

Would you like the option to import a save file or is that not really important to you at this point? Sound off in the comments below.
