Xbox players have been able to turn their achievement hunting and extensive gameplay available through services like Xbox Game Pass in order to earn premium rewards and enter sweepstakes. However,Microsoftalso lets players donate their hard-earned points from playing through games likeSkyrimon Game Passto a number of different charitable causes, with the company adding a new incentive until the end of the year.

These charities help several causes, including the CDC Foundation and United Nations Foundation, which are both currently working towards COVID-19 relief. In response to what these foundations have been doing,Microsoftwill be doubling any Xbox players' donations through the Xbox Rewards program until the end of the year.

Players can donate their points either through the regular Microsoft website, or through the Microsoft Store available onany Xbox One or Series X/S console. Then, as a part of the new Double Donations initiative by Microsoft, every 1000 points that players donate will then give $2 to each of these causes instead of the usual $1. This Double Donations program will be going until the end of the year, so players with leftover rewards points can make the most out of their charity up until January 1st.

With some of these charities even coming back to benefit the gaming industry in general, there are plenty of reasons to donate right now, even for fans who might not ordinarily be able to contribute. However, 1000 Microsoft Rewards points is quite a time commitment, especially for players who log in to complete daily, weekly, and monthly challenges consistently, with some of the high tier rewards in mind. So, the time investment doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s a free contribution, although that added effort may make donating through theXbox Game Passcould make the donation that much more meaningful for some players.
