Sirens Is Another Great The White Lotus Replacement After The Perfect Couple

Fahy Has Appeared In Multiple Comedy Drama Shows

Fahy appeared inseason 2 ofThe White Lotusas Daphne, earning an Emmy nomination in the process. In 2024, Fahy appeared as Merritt inThe Perfect Couple, another Netflix series of the same genre. After both of these shows, which center on the lives of their wealthy characters and the lengths that they will go to to maintain the status quo and hide their secrets,Sirensis the perfect follow-up.Fahy channels the same charming, though more rough-around-the-edges, energythat she carried through her past roles, making her a delight to watch.

As she continues digging into her sister’s new lifestyle, Devon becomes increasingly concerned with Simone’s boss and the secrets she is hiding.

Fahy’s Devon is immediately and clearly at odds withSirens' other characters. After being released from an overnight stay in jail, she leaves town in search of her sister, Simone, and finds her working for and living with the wife of a billionaire, Michaela Kell.Everything at Michaela’s house and the island the Kells live on is perfectly manicured, and the people are all identically dressed in preppy styles and Lilly Pulitzer-like dresses. As she continues digging into her sister’s new lifestyle, Devon becomes increasingly concerned with Simone’s boss and the secrets she is hiding.

While there are some notable differences in the plots ofThe White LotusandSirens, they are thematically and visually similar in a lot of ways. The new series is arguably even more similar to Fahy’sThe Perfect Couple, as both shows examine the home lives of one specific rich family. The shows all juxtapose the ultra-wealthy, seemingly perfect outer appearance of their characters with their inner turmoil and dirty secrets, especially through the point of view of their less wealthy guests or employees.

Sirens Features Another Impressive Cast Like The White Lotus & The Perfect Couple

Sirens' Cast Is The Highlight Of The Miniseries

One of the best features that these shows all share is their great casts, and this is certainly by design. It takes a likable, talented actor to make these characters, who can often be unlikable and unrelatable, fun to watch and even at times sympathetic to viewers. Each season ofThe White Lotushas excelled at this, bringing on performers like Jennifer Coolidge, Connie Britton, Michael Imperioli, Aubrey Plaza, Parker Posey, Carrie Coon, and countless more across its three seasons.

Meghann Fahy’s 2024 miniseries,The Perfect Couple, also features an excellent cast, led by Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber, as the heads of their own wealthy, secretive family.Sirensis no different on this front. Beyond Fahy, who has already proven herself adept in similar comedy dramas, the series stars Julianne Moore as the sinister billionaire, Michaela, and Kevin Bacon as her husband, Peter. The two well-known actors perform their roles with flair and intrigue, keeping viewers guessing what they may be hiding.

Alcock and Fahy’s scenes together are some of the best in the entire show.

Beyond the easily recognizable Moore and Bacon,Sirensalso includes the younger actor Milly Alcock as Devon’s sister Simone. At just 25-years-old, Alcock is already a rising star in her own right, having appeared in HBO’sHouse of the Dragonas young Rhaenyra Targaryen and will be starring in the upcomingSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Alcock and Fahy’s scenes together are some of the best in the entire show. Despite Simone keeping her own secrets, both from her sister and her boss, Devon and Simone’s sibling arguments provide some necessary humorous and raw moments toSirens, rounding the series out.
