Marvel Comics' most patriotic hero,Captain America, is going international as he assembles a team of heroes all across the world. Steve Rogers' latest series has gone back into the past and explored his history with Doctor Doom. But a return to the present sees Captain America working with a team to confront the powerful Marvel villain.
In an interview withComicBook,Captain Americawriter Chip Zdarsky discussed his series and dug into what lies ahead in the series' second arc. Zdarsky revealed that this chapter would be set in the present, focusing on Steve as he goes on a mission in Latveria. But Captain America won’t be alone, as he’s joined by a new international team.

Joining Captain America are the United Captains, composed of four new global heroes. There’s Captain Kingdom for the UK and Captain France, a new Red Widow to represent Russia, and The Star, a captain to represent China. With Doom’s reign of terror over, Steve is heading back to Latveria to keep things stable among the new collection of international Captains.

Four Countries are Getting a New ‘Captain America’-Like Hero
The current Captain America series explores a rarely-seen chapter of Steve’s life, namely the period right after he was found. This series takes place right after the War on Terror began and revealed that Rogers was drafted into a mission in Latveria to rescue hostages held captive by Doctor Doom, leading Cap to meet the villain for the first time.
This isn’t the first team of Captains that Steve has been a part of (less anyone forget the Captain America Corps). But this is unique in that its Cap on a team with captains from other countries. That being said, this group is going to be on tense ground as they venture to Latveria to represent their own country’s interests.

Captain America is a team player, so he should get along just fine. But with Doom defeated, every country is going to have a vested interest in Latveria.
