Marvel Rivals Strongly Hints Knull Will Be The Focus Of Season 3

Lore From This Season Shows The Next Step In The Story

Season 1 had Dracula plunge New York into an endless night, while Sesaon 2 saw heroes celebrate at the Hellfire Gala before its invasion by Ultron. Due to hints from the in-game story texts throughout Season 2.5,Knull has been hinted at through a Gallery Cardseen at the end of theCerebro Database II event inMarvel Rivals.

This Gallery Card shows Adam Warlock holding his head in pain after sensing a powerful force rising in the galaxy.According to the lore text associated with the Gallery Card, Knull has freed himself from his prison on Klyntar, despite the heroes' best efforts to destroy him using his own essence on that map. Adam Warlock’s design in this Gallery Card shows a spiraling red symbol, an icon reflected by symbiotes Knull controls in his hive-mind.

Further conversation in the Gallery Card hints that Knull is making his way to Earth, snuffing out stars on his way as he seeks to vanquish all light from the universe. Needless to say, this is a massive threat that would require every hero and villain of theMarvel Rivalsroster to stop.

Knull was also mentioned and hinted at through new concept art revealed in theMarvel RivalsArt Vision Vol .03 video. This video goes over many characters visual concepts, including a more detailed look at Knull, perhaps emphasizing his important role in the near future.

Knull has been hinted to play a major role in the game’s story for some time now, ever since he was revealed in the launch trailer. While Knull has only been mentioned through character dialogue and through the mission of the Klyntar map, this God of Darkness is one of the only major villains besides Doctor Doom that’s been mentioned numerous times. Similar to Dracula, Knull’s presence as thefocus of aMarvel RivalsSeason themewas inevitable.

Everything To Expect With The Launch Of Season 3

New Characters And Costumes With A Symbiote Aesthetic

Based on what the developers have already promised with every seasonal update, you can expect at least these things when Season 3 drops:

If Season 3 does have Knull as the main villain, a Battle Pass full of symbiote-themed costumes would be a welcome additionto the game. Symbiote, or"venomized"versions of characters, have always been popular with Marvel Comics, with notable iterations being the Symbiote (“Black Suit”) Spider-Man or a Venom-themed Jeff the Land Shark. Obviously, a symbiote-themed Season would need to have a great reward for Venom from its cosmetics.

Using the same Gallery Card that hinted Knull earlier, there are even references to which character might be added first in Season 3. From different lore excerpts in Magneto’s hero profile and the Adam Warlock card, there is a big chance thatJean Grey could be the next characterin the game. There are multiple references to a cosmic force of light manifesting in the cosmos ofMarvel Rivals, perhaps alluding to The Phoenix Force that Jean harnesses in her most powerful state.

The name of the Gallery Card showing Adam Warlock sensing Knull’s approaching darkness is called"From The Ashes,“further hinting at The Phoenix appearing in Season 3 through Jean Grey as a new character.

Other characters that could be inSeason 3 might include Captain Marvel, Rogue, or Gambit, who have all been referenced through some form of in-game dialogue. Leaked in-game voice lines have seen the latter two characters mentioned by name through conversations existing heroes on the roster have with them. However, this does not guarantee their presence in Season 3, as they could also be down in line in Season 4 or later.

Other symbiote characters from Marvel Comics could make an appearance, from Carnage to Toxin. Some speculate that Blade could finally arrive in Season 3 after recovering from his imprisonment by Dracula in Season 1 and sleeping through the events of the Hellfire Gala in Season 2. No matter what characters get added, they will likely play a key role in stopping Knull, if the God of Symbiotes isn’t a character himself.

Season 3 will come with a number of larger balance changes as well, adjusting the strengths of characters across the board. This includes Team-Up abilities, which have been reworked for every major update the game has gotten during seasonal patches. With Competitive Rank resets as well,Marvel RivalsSeason 3 will change a lot of content, making the experience of this popular hero shooter continue to feel fresh.
