Marvel Comicsis reviving a notable term that signaled the end of an era for the MCU to advertise the next and possibly final big moment for its Ultimate Universe. Readers have been enjoyingMarvel’s rebooted Ultimate linefor the last year and a half, but a new teaser hints that the end is nigh for the fan-favorite line.

With San Diego Comic-Con just one week away,Marvel Comics is gettingahead of the game. The publisher pushed out a cryptic new teaser to whet fans' appetites before the big convention and give readers a hint of what’s to come. While the teaser is light on the details, it’s got enough to get fans guessing.

Ultimate Endgame Marvel Comics

OnMarvel Comics’official website, the publisher made a post teasinga brand-new winter event, “Ultimate Endgame”, promising more details later this week. The teaser image shows a stylized letter ‘U’ crumbling while the mysterious text on the image shows nothing but the word ‘endgame’ and the date December 31st.

It’s Endgame for the Ultimate Universe This Winter

Marvel Comics Revived Line is Heading for an Unexpected End

The new Ultimate Universebegan when Reed Richards’ sinister variant, the Maker, broke out of prison. While he made it so that the heroes of this new world never rose to challenge him, several did in spite of his machinations. The Maker was contained within a cityfor two years and, since then, the heroes have been anticipating his return.

This fall marks the two-year period since the Maker’s imprisonment, and it looks like he’s about to go on a tear. The use of the ominous word ‘Endgame’ seems to suggest that the Maker’s going to undo his creation and rid Marvel Comics of its Ultimate Universe again. But“Ultimate Endgame” may not be what some fans expect.

“Ultimate Endgame” Won’t Be the End, But a New Chapter

Just Like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Endgame Will Be a Turning Point

It’s easy to see a word like ‘Endgame’ and think that the new Ultimate Universe is on borrowed time. But ifAvengers: Endgametaught fans anything, it’s that titles like these aren’t always as final as they sound. If the MCU could survive Thanos in theEndgamefilm, theheroes of the Ultimate Universe can overcome the Maker.

It won’t be easy and things may be quite different for the Ultimate Universe after “Ultimate Endgame”. But until fans have a bit more details, they may want to wait before panicking. Hopefully, whateverMarvelhas prepared for its new ‘Endgame’ story, it’ll be just as entertaining as the last one fans saw.
