On-stage at E3 Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemot and Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto announced they werepartnering to create the crossover adventure,Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battlefor the Nintendo Switch.Kingdom Battleis a turn-based tactical adventure game featuring an invasion of Rabbids into the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario and friends will partner with several Rabbids to battle through an assortment of worlds and enemies, now wielding powerful firearms unlike anything Mario’s seen before.
Gameplay shown included the player taking control of a mix of Nintendo characters from theMariouniverse, mixed with a variety of Rabbids sportingMariocostumes. Combat inMario + Rabbids Kingdom Battletakes place on a third-person tactical grid, where the player can combine characters for unique combat abilities.
InMario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, a mysterious vortex has has torn the Mushroom Kingdom apart.Rabbids have invaded, leaving Mario to stave off an army unlike any he and his friends have previously faced. Four Rabbid heroes, luckily, have joined with him to bring about peace. They will venture through four unique worlds, for example an ice world shown in the trailer, and while no “final boss” was shown it’s highly likely Bowser and maybe a Bowser-copying Rabbid await.
Ubisoft also revealed some extra info for potential buyers of the new game. Additional features inMario + Rabbids Kingdom Battleinclude cooperative or solo gameplay, a bevy of weapons to discover, and on top of the tactical combat there will be more traditional puzzles to solve akin to otherMariogames. Also revealed is a special pre-order bonus forMario + Rabids Kingdom Battle, including 8 unique weapons otherwise unavailable in-game.
