Nintendo has given fans another glimpse into the upcomingMario Kart World,this time showing off what one of the overworld missions will look like. The newest entry into theMario Kartfranchise will arrive on June 5 as a launch title for Nintendo’s upcoming console, the Nintendo Switch 2. In the ninth installment of the racing game, players will be able to leave the race tracks and freely explore the world surrounding them, adding a new layer to the classic series.

To incentivize players to explore the world,Mario Kart Worldhas scattered missions for players to find and complete in between races. Nintendo has nowshared what one of these missions will look like, as shared on X byStealth40k.

In the video, Toadette is shown making “a bold escape through the ice-cream ravine” in the upcoming game’s version of the world surrounding theSky-High Sundae racetrack. Driving over the power switch momentarily freezes time to show players their mission and where to go next. The racer is then released and must complete the challenge, which in this caseconsists of driving through a series of rings within a specified time limit.

“I think that not only those who are not familiar with Mario Kart but also advanced players who are into time attacks will be satisfied.”

This mission requires players to master wall-riding and gliding, two new mechanics being introduced into the franchise for the first time. In an interview withNintendo, gameplay planning lead Shintaro Jikumaru said thatthe missions are meant to appeal to both casual and more hardcore fans, stating: “I think that not only those who are not familiar with Mario Kart but also advanced players who are into time attacks will be satisfied.”
