There’s no doubt thePlayStation 4is an in-demand system, but it’s not often you see someone quite this desperate to get their hands on Sony’s flagship home console. In contrast to most folks, who simply go to one of their many local retail outlets and purchase aPS4, one determined man devised another, less conventional method to get his hands on the console.
The man in question, 19-year-old Adel, was in a grocery store in Nice, France, when he hatched his plan to go home with a PS4 without paying the full price. Adel figured that if he could manage to ring the system up as fruit using the kiosk’s weight scale, he could leave the store with a PS4 in his shopping bag only having paid a few dollars. Surprisingly enough, everything went according to plan and the machine printed out a label for Adel to scan, ringing him up for about €9 ($10) instead of charging for the system’s full retail price.

Then, Adel made a perplexing string of ill-advised decisions. Almost immediately after he walked out of the store with his dubiously-obtained PS4, Adel sold the unit to pay for a train ticket, and then returned to the store the next day to try his luck a second time. Unfortunately for Adel, it seems his luck had run dry. This time around, security was able to stop him before the police showed up and took him to jail on property theft charges.
Elsewhere in France, police recently turned a similar situationinto a positive storyfor young gamers staying at a children’s hospital. In contrast to Adel’s case, where the stolen unit was sold off to an unknown buyer, police were able to recover four stolen PS4 consoles and donate them to a children’s hospital to be put to good use.
While stealing is definitely not the solution, it’s true that playing games is an expensive hobby and one that unfortunately not everyone can always afford. Fortunately, there are deals like this one, where gamers can get their hands on a bundle of different games, altogether worth $239,for just $15.
