Mafia: The Old Countryis taking players back to 1900s Sicily to take part in the rise of Enzo Favara, and a new gameplay trailer has given a fresh look at the gorgeous setting and brutal conflicts of organized crime.The Old Country’s first full trailerwas released at The Game Awards 2024, but it did not provide much insight into the actual gameplay.
Now, via theMafia GameYouTube channel, the “Whatever it Takes” trailer has provided a clearer look at what to expect from the Hangar 13 title. Up-and-coming mafiosoEnzo Favara is shown racing through the idyllic Sicilian countryside on both horseback and era-appropriate automobiles, while fighting police officers and rival mafias alike in bombastic and bloody combat combining ranged and melee weapons.Mafia: The Old Countrywill release on July 09, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Mafia: The Old Country’s gameplay trailer begins with a monologue by Don Torrisi before quickly transitioning into a variety of gameplay clips, first showing Enzo sneaking through catacombs, stabbing and throwing a knife to take down enemies before he’s spotted. When the guns come out,there’s a distinct focus on environmental effects, with Enzo shooting a lantern to set a foe on fire, and the accoutrements of a dining hall exploding from shotgun fire later in the trailer.
Driving has been a highlight of previousMafiainstallments, and there’s a high-octane clip of Enzo racing through the Sicilian countryside in an old-school roadster, chasing another car while avoiding a truck on the dirt road. However,Mafia: The Old Countryis introducing horseback ridingand the Spaghetti Western-style shoot-outs that come with it. There’s also a final clip in the trailer that seems to tease a melee combat system for intimate knife fights, though it’s unclear from the footage how involved this may be.

The new trailer ends withMafia: The Old Country’s release date, August 8. Therelease date was previously leaked, but is now officially confirmed, which means the game will be out in exactly three months after the gameplay trailer’s drop. WithGrand Theft Auto 6delayed to 2026, this thins the field forMafia: The Old Country, though there are notable games releasing near it still.Donkey Kong Bananzawill be the Switch 2’s second major exclusive less than a month prior, andMetal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eaterwill arrive a few weeks later.
The Old Countryjoins as a prequel to thethree previousMafiagames, which take place in the United States from the 1930s, all the way through the mid-20th century to the 60s.The Old Countryis set to return to the more linear format of the first two games, rather than build on the open-world gameplay ofMafia 3. Pre-orders forMafia: The Old Countryare open now ahead of its release on August 8.
