A few years ago, a sequel to theDark Souls-inspiredLords of the Fallenwas announced by CI Games. Fast forward to 2017, and we still haven’t seen anything onLords of the Fallen 2, and if recent comments by CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski are any indication, the game won’t release any time soon.
While the game is still in active development,Lords of the Fallen 2is reportedly being developed by a “very small team” at CI Games. Tyminski added that CI Games wants to make sureLords of the Fallen 2is a “great game,” and that the team will be given enough development time to ensure its quality.

For those looking forward toLords of the Fallen 2, it’s good news that the game is still in the works, though some may be disheartened to learn that it doesn’t seem to be getting that much attention. The original game, while not a massive success by any means, still sold fairly well for a new IP, and earned decent reviews at the time of its release, so it is somewhat surprising that the sequel isn’t being developed by a larger team.
Lords of the Fallen 2wasoriginally going to launch in 2017, but with its development team shrinking and no substantial information available on it, that release window seems unlikely. However, CI Games is currently looking for a partner to work with it on the game, which could speed up development and put it on track for release within the next couple of years, according to Tyminski.
Since the first game was made as a collaboration between CI Games and Deck13 Interactive, it makes sense that CI Games is seeking out a partner to work with it onLords of the Fallen 2. Perhaps CI Games will even reach out to Deck13 Interactive again, especially since Deck13 has finished work onThe Surge.
Regardless of which studio CI Games decides to enlist to aid in the development ofLords of the Fallen 2, it’s clear that the team will need to grow if the game is going to release any time soon. In the meantime, the fact that it is in development at all may be enough to reassure those holding out for the sequel.
