Konami has officially announced the cancellation of its track-and-field compendiumHyper Sports R. Initially revealed back in the summer of 2018, and was evendemonstrated at that year’s E3,Hyper Sports Rwas intended to be a throwback to theclassic ’80s button-mashersof the same name.
“As of today, we have decided to discontinue development onHyper Sports Rfor the Nintendo Switch,”said Konami in a statement on the game’s official website. “The team had been continually working on the game since its initial reveal in June 2018. However, after much consideration, we have decided to cancel its development due to various circumstances.”
“We deeply apologize to all our valued customers who have been patiently anticipating the release of this game for this significant inconvenience,” continues the statement. “We hope that you will continually enjoy our products and services.”
