Jurassic World: Evolution 2is officially arriving in the very near future. Announced at Thursday’s Summer Game Fest, the sequel toJurassic World: Evolutionis slated for release later this year.

The firstJurassic World Evolutionallowed players to build their own Jurassic Parkand then try and keep all the dinosaurs that populated their island inside their prospective pens. As viewers saw in the movies, that isn’t always so easy and players were tasked with dealing with various issues that threatened the peace and safety of the animals, the guests, and the people who worked the park.

Jeff Goldblum, who starred in several of theJurassic Parkmovies that these games are based on appeared at the Summer Game Fest to introduce the upcoming game. Even before his official reveals, theJurrasic World: Evolutiondevs had let it slipthat they were working on new content. At the time it wasn’t known whether that meant additional DLC for the current game or a full-fledged sequel.

TheJurassic World: Evolvedcommunity is known for working on their own content for the game as well. There are several mods that have been created by people in that community who have worked to change the look and feel of the Roller Coaster-tycoon-like game. Some of the more adventurous mods have even gone out of their way toadd personalities from theJurassic Parkmovies into the game.

Those kinds of mods made the addition of Jeff Goldblum to the introduction of the new title even more timely. The actor is well known as Dr. Ian Malcolm and he made his first appearance in the very first installment of the long-running series. It was Malcolm who first came to the conclusion that keeping a bunch of dinosaurs penned up in a theme park was a very dangerous idea that would almost certainly backfire no matter how the park was set up. SinceJurassic World: Evolutionlaunched, players have been trying to prove Goldblum’s character wrong by coming up with their own setups on a ton of different islands.

While Malcom warned that “life will find a way,” players have also come up with some rather interestingdinosaur builds the smartest minds in the cinematicJurassic Parknever arrived at. As of now, an official release date forJurassic World: Evolution 2isn’t yet known, but the game is expected to arrive on both the newest consoles, as well as the Xbox One and PS4 later this year.

Jurassic World: Evolution 2is coming to the Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2021.
