This post contains a PREVIEW for Aliens vs Avengers #4
It’s no secret that theAlienfranchise’s Xenomorphs are some of the most lethal creatures in science fiction. However, some pretty monstrous variations of the classic Xenomorph have emerged over the years, like the incredibly disturbing xeno-human hybrid seen in 2024’sAlien: Romulusknown asThe Offspring. However, Marvel Comics has just revealed the first look at a brand-new variation on the typical XX121 organism, one that is truly…Sinister.

In the new preview forMarvel’sAliens vs Avengersby Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic, the classic X-Men villain and dark geneticist Mister Sinister continues his experiments on himself and the Xenomorph species. Earth’s survivors believed the mutants on Mars could provide them with a temporary sanctuary after Earth was overrun by the Xenomorphs. However, they found nothing but a deserted red wasteland full of Xenomorphs and Mister Sinister himself (save for a small handful of mutants). Now, this new preview forAliens vs Avengers #4sees Mister Sinister and his clones taking the next big step in their “evolution”:
Previous issues ofAliens vs Avengersconfirmed thatMister Sinister had devised a means of immunity from the Xenomorphs, having willingly allowed himself and his clones to be implanted with chestbursters, but only after manipulating their genetic code to prolong their incubation cycle. However, this new issue sees Sinister taking things even further, merging with the Xenomorphs and allowing himself to evolve into a brand-new, much larger, and all-red variant of the horrifying alien creatures.

Mister Sinister Sees The Xenomorphs As The Pinnacle Of Evolution
The Perfect (And Most Lethal) Species
As was seen inAvengers vs Aliens #3, Mister Sinister finds the Xenomorphs fascinating, nearly unstoppable killing machines with the perfect life cycle ensuring their dominance the moment they’re able to break containment, spread, and begin reproduction.A massively invasive species, Sinister has been shown revering the Xenomorphs as the peak of evolution, especially with how they carry the DNA of those they implant with their eggs (before bursting out of them), a dark way of preserving the genetic legacy of species they wipe out.
In the main Marvel continuity,Mister Sinister is all about experimentation, seeking absolute perfection via evolution. As such, the fact that he’s on the side of the Xenomorphs and now wants to become one himself in this alt-crossover timeline darkly makes all kinds of sense. Now, Mister Sinister is going to become that perfect killing machine. However, one has to wonder what might be different now that this new Sinister-Xenomorph hybrid will be emerging in this upcoming issue set in what must be one of the multiverse’s darkest timelines.
How Much Of This New Xenomorph Is Still Sinister?
And How Powerful Will He Be?
Appearing to be much bigger than all the other Xenomorphs around him, this new Sinister-Xenomorph hybrid definitely looks primed to become a pack leader. Perhaps he’ll even have the ability to lead and control the typical Xenomorphs at will. The result of Sinister’s ongoing experimentation and genetic manipulations, it is currently unknown if this hybrid still carries Sinister’s intelligence and memories, or if this is a whole new kind of creature entirely that Sinister has sacrificed himself to bring into being.
It’s also worth noting that Mister Sinister still has plenty of his clones on Mars.As such, one has to wonder if this new red Xenomorph is simply the first of many. While this does raise the stakes asAliens vs Avengerscontinues, it’s good to remember that the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda was shown in orbit at the end of the last issue, suggesting that the biggest battle of this epic crossover series is still yet to come.
Aliens vs Avengers #4is on sale June 18th from Marvel Comics.
