The 2019 Game Awards has brought with it several new word premiere trailers for games that players were not expecting. As the newest games for 2020 are still being revealed, many were shocked about content they didn’t even know were in development. Chief among the new games is the latest surprise trailer forSons of theForest,a sequel to the survival horror gameThe Forest.
The Forestfollows a lone survivor who was a passenger of a crashed jet plane. Players have to survive through several days of horror battling with the rough terrain, harsh environments, and seemingly possessed residents in the area. One of the greatest aspects ofThe Forestwas the ability to play multiplayer on cross-platform systems.The Forestwas created by Endnight Games, released in November of 2018 and waslisted as one of the 2018 best horror games.

Sons of the Forestwill be just one of 10new games to be announced at The Game Awards. The trailer reveals the main character with a tattoo that says “Fight Demons,” and indicates that Timmy, son of the original hero Eric, might be the sequel’s newest hero. Depending on which ending players chose, it still highly likely that Timmy will be the main character of this game. Players appear to have survived with at least a few of their flight crew, but likely characters will end up in some form of isolation during gameplay. The peninsula appears to be overrun by demons and the demons also look like they’ve advanced further in their mutation.
The Forestwas one of the first survival horror games to be transported over to VR and playable on such platforms as Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. With the recent Oculus Quest gaining popularity, and the even more recentshortages on Valve’s newest headsets, it’s more than likely thatSons of the Forestwill also be ported over to VR. Players will likely be able to play in multiplayer, though it will be interesting to see whether the main story mode will be able to support multiplayer as well.
Sons of the Foresthas yet to announce a release date or what platforms it will be available on.
