A recently-released mod forHogwarts Legacyallows players to play as Lord Voldemort. It’s not the first mod to change the game’s protagonist, with another modder allowing gamers toplay asGTA: San Andreas' CJ inHogwarts Legacy.
The modding community forHogwarts Legacyis still small, as modders get to grips with what’s possible in Avalanche Software’s latest title. That hasn’t stopped modders from creating some truly weird and wonderful mods for the game so far. Onemod even added Thomas the Tank Engine toHogwarts Legacy, replacing the Hogwarts Express. Whenever a new game comes out, it’s always exciting to see how the modding community will transform it. It’s early days forHogwarts Legacy, but the signs are positive that the game will have an active and dedicated modding community for some time to come.

Footage of the Lord Voldemort mod was released to YouTube by modder Dego. The video is strange, featuring clips of Voldemort causing havoc around the grounds of Hogwarts. According to the modder, the mod also replaces the player’s hand textures to look like Voldemort, so there isn’t a visual clash. The mod does have some small quirks, with the player still being able to customize Voldemort usingHogwarts Legacy’s character creator. This allows for some hilarious creations - players can add hair to Voldemort, and accessories such as glasses. This is as well as the goofy outfits that players can use in the game. Seeing Voldemort with thick hair is quite a sight, with more images available on themod’s Nexus Mods page.
Unfortunately, the mod doesn’t change the voice of the protagonist to be more suitable for Lord Voldemort, which may take some players out of the experience. However, the emergence of eerily-accurate AI voices means that something like this could certainly be possible given the correct amount of time and effort. After all, modders have already added afully-voiced protagonist toSkyrim, so anything is possible as the technology becomes more and more accessible. There’s certainly enough footage of Ralph Fiennes' Lord Voldemort to create a sample that could work to generate AI clips featuring him.
While the modding community continues to add new content toHogwarts Legacy, developer Avalanche Software remains tight-lipped about its upcoming plans for the game. The official line is that no DLC is in development for the title, but the financial success of the game could be enough to change this in the coming months. If no DLC is released, it could be some time before players receive more gaming content set in the Wizarding World, but the success ofHogwarts Legacyhas shown that the audience desire remains alive and well.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4 and Xbox One versions launching May 5 and a Switch port releasing July 25.
