Just last week, Microsoft announced it would beclosingHi-Fi RushandThe Evil Withinstudio Tango Gameworks, alongside a few others, much to the despair of pretty much everyone. While Tango Gameworks will soon be no more, it still has a couple of things planned forHi-Fi Rush, including its previously promised physical release.
Hi-Fi Rushinitially launched as a digital-only title last year, but a couple of months ago Tango confirmed it had partnered with Limited Run Games to launch physical copies. Not just for the Xbox version, but also the PlayStation 5 port, which arrived digitally this past March. I wouldn’t blame people for wondering if Tango’s closure meant the physical release would be cancelled, but Tango has assured viaa May 15 Twitter postthat isn’t the case.

Thank you all for your continued support. We’re working to release the physical edition of Hi-Fi RUSH with our partners at Limited Run Games, as well as a final patch to address some minor issues releasing later today.❤️
It’s still unclear when exactly these physical versions will come out, with Tango only adding that it has one last patch it plans to release later today. Don’t expect anything major from the patch either, as Tango says it’ll just address some ofHi-Fi Rush‘s lingering minor issues.

While it remains a tragic shame that Tango’s future has been cut short, presumably ruling out any potentialHi-Fi Rushsequel along with it, it’s good to know that there’ll be an option for those who prefer to own their games physically. It’s also a better alternative than keepingHi-Fi Rushdigital-only, since Microsoft could wind up de-listing it, thus renderingHi-Fi Rushforever unavailable. It’s certainly a better outcome than the oneRedfallis facing, since it’s stuck as an online-only game and isdoomed to become unplayable once its servers shut down.
There was speculation thatHi-Fi Rushwould eventually see a port to the Nintendo Switch, much like otherformer Xbox exclusivesGroundedandPentiment. In fact,The Vergeoutright claimed this would be the case. Now, though, it’s entirely possible any Switch port ofHi-Fi Rushwill be scrapped.
