Now that filming has ended on the upcoming Netflix seriesThe Witcher, all fans can do now is patiently wait for the show’s release on the streaming service. Until then, there will be plenty of new details and previews that will steadily trickle out to entice audiences. One of these these early glimpses might have just come from Henry Cavill, star of the series, on his Instagram, where he poses with an ebony-colored horse that many believe to beThe Witcher’s reliable steed, Roach.
Mr. Cavill did not confirm this detail, however. His caption for the photo merely expressed his love for the horse, ending with a hashtag of its real-life name. It is hard to imagine the horse’s identity to be anything but Roach, especially when the background of the selfie is a verdant plain that would fit theWitcherseries perfectly.
Until it is confirmed by Cavill or Netflix, fans will just have to wait and see if this majestic creature ends up being Roach. If the series follows the video game too closely, this might be one ofmanyRoaches Geralt will ride.
This isn’t the first look behind the scenes ofThe Witcherfrom Cavill. Earlier this year, he used his personal Instagram to show that his portrayal of Geralt won’t be a toned down, cleaner version of the character. He does fight monsters, after all, and has plenty of scars to prove it. In the Instagram photo,Cavill shows Geralt’s scarsaround his torso, all realistic-looking prosthetics, of course. Many were pleased to see that the brutal and gory nature of the series won’t be toned down for Netflix.
As for when audiences will finally get to see Geralt in action—possibly riding the horse above–there has been no exactrelease date forThe Witcherannounced by Netflix yet. There have been leaks, however. According to the same site that has accurately leakedWitchernews in the past, the show will be ready for binging this December. The site also claims the show has already been picked up for a second season. If true, this could mean the series is either very good or Netflix simply believes it is popular enough to do well with viewers.
Netflix’sThe Witcheris set to debut at some point in late 2019.
