According toComicBook.com, it was revealed at Animate! Orlando that Medrano and the Hellaverse creative team’s next show isHomestuck. They have been working on an animated pilot of the popular Internet fiction series that ran from 2009-2016, with the pilot coming to Medrano’s YouTube channel in September, although the full series has not been optioned yet.

Medrano will executive produceHomestuckwhile Richard Horvitz serves as voice director and Skye Henwood will write and direct. The voice cast features Toby “Radiation” Fox as John Egbert, Cherami Leigh as Rose Lalonde, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Jade Harley, Adam McArthur as Dave Strider, and Brandon Winckler as Karkat Vantas. What This Means For Homestuck & The Hellaverse

Homestuckwas a long-running Internet phenomenon spanning numerous mediums, including web comics and games. Despite its conclusion in 2016, it is now receiving new life thanks to Medrano and her team at SpindleHorse as they turn the story into an animated show.

The story of four teenagers who play a game that inadvertently destroys the world has already resonated with an extensive audience, and it will now have an even larger audience thanks to the involvement ofHazbin Hotel’s creators. Between the popularity ofHomestuckand the Hellaverse, there is a good chance of the show being officially optioned, and potentially even coming to Prime Video.

For now, Homestuck does not seem as though it will interfere withHelluva Bossseason 3or future seasons ofHazbin Hotel. SpindleHorse is naturally expanding their portfolio of animated shows as they explore new stories and continue to grow the Hellaverse.

Our Take On Homestuck Becoming An Animated Show

Given the success ofthe Hellaverse shows, I expected the creators' next show to be another spinoff. WhileHomestuckinitially seems like a surprising choice, the story’s tone and animation style feel fitting for the team at Spindlehorse to take on.

Part of the reasonHazbin Hotelresonated so strongly with audiences was because of how creative and refreshing it felt compared to many other series. A similar feeling can be tapped into withHomestuck, and it is promising to see that Medrano and her collaborators don’t just want to solely rely on the Hellaverse moving forward.
