Executive produced by J.K. Rowling, theHarry PotterTV series will adapt the novels over the course of 10 years. Actual specifics to how this will work have not been announced at the time of this writing, but one has to imagine that eachHarry Potterbook will translate to at least 1 season of television each. Considering the incredible popularity of theHarry Potterfranchise, it’s really no surprise that a TV series based on the franchise is in development. However, there are someHarry Potterfans who aren’t happy that the show is adapting the books. They don’t want to see iconic roles likeEmma Watson as Hermione Grangerand Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter being recast. They’d rather see an original series set in theHarry Potteruniverse it seems, but that is apparently not in the cards.
To be fair, attempts by the film franchise to stray away from the books have not gone well. While theoriginalFantastic Beastsfilmwas a box office success and earned mostly positive reviews, the same can’t be said for its sequels, which were poorly received and had lower box office returns. Adapting the book series is the safest bet by far.
