Old School RuneScape comes to mobile with PC cross-play

RuneScapearrived at the exact right place and time for millions of people. As a free and easily accessible game, there were few real barriers to entry. It was a good starter MMO. If you had friends who were deep intoRuneScapeand they wanted to guilt you into joining, you couldn’t use the usual excuses.

“You want someone to playStar Wars Galaxieswith you? No, Charlie, I don’t want to pay the monthly fee. You’re on your own. What aboutRuneScape? I, uh, yeah… I think I left the oven on. Gotta run!”

While some of us have long since moved on,RuneScapenever stopped. Jagex is reaching out to lapsed fans in a big way today with the mobile release ofOld School RuneScapeoniOSandAndroid. It’s essentially 2007 in a time capsule, albeit with some modernizations like touch-screen controls.

It’s one thing to vaguely remember what the game used to look like, and another thing entirely to see vivid footage of it running on a phone. If you want to take a trip down memory lane, the mobile version seems robust, especially considering that user accounts are cross-platform compatible with PC.
