Despite the success ofRed Dead Redemption 2and the release of itsRed Dead Onlinemultiplayer beta,Grand Theft Auto Onlinecontinues to be explosively popular. So it comes as no surprise that Rockstar is continuing to produce major content updates forGrand Theft Auto 5’s inventive multiplayer mode. Today Rockstar releasedGrand Theft Auto Online’s latest update, Arena War, a major update featuring seven different unique demolition derby modes.
Depending on theGrand Theft Auto Onlinemode, players will pick their vehicle of choice and then commit as much carnage as possible in the round that follows. Each mode is different than the rest, with the Carnage mode delivering the most straightforward destruction derby experience and the rest branching out from there:
Even players who have been defeated (condemned to the Spectator Box) can continue as part of the fun. They’ll be equipped with EMP Drones and explosive RC Cars, if not something even more destructive.
There’s more than just Arena War’s seven destruction derby modes available as part ofGrand Theft Auto Online’s latest update, however. Within the game, players will be able to purchase an assortment of in-game content via the new ArenaWar.tv website. Most prominent of this new content is the Arena Workshop, which will allow players tocustomize their vehicleswith devastating equipment like Buzz Saws and Ram Bars.
There will also be twelve new awesome “Arena Contenders” vehicles to acquire. Each of the vehicles will feature their own Future Shock, Apocalypse, and Nightmarecustomization styles. And while some of them come pre-packaged and finished straight away, others start stripped down at purchase and need to be upgraded via the workshop in order to attain their most destructive forms.
Players who step into the Arena this week inGrand Theft Auto Onlinewith earn double GTA$ and RP across the entire Arena War series. Those that log-in before Dec. 17 will also earn the limited availability Annis and Bravado t-shirts. It’s the perfect opportunity to take a break fromRed Dead Redemption 2.
