Without a doubt,Grand Theft Auto 5has had its fair share of fan-made products come into existence thanks to the advent of modding, but most of the mods' ambitions pale in comparison to that of the YouTuber Kramer’s Media latest creation. As it so happens, the modder has managed to take some ofGrand Theft Auto 5’s existing assets, as well as a plethora of newly made animations and mods to remake the 1991 science fiction classicTerminator 2: Judgment Dayalmost in its entirety within Rockstar Games' open world title.
As seen in the video from Kramer’s Media below,Grand Theft Auto 5’s environments ofLos Santosare the perfect place to stage the recreation ofTerminator 2, as the game’s city is a direct parody of the film’s setting of Los Angeles. Although the full run time of the actual movie is a little over two and a half hours, the YouTuber manages to pack in all of the most memorable scenes from the motion picture while maintaining the central plot line. Unfortunately, native English speakers who have never seen the film may have trouble following the footage, as it’s dubbed in Russian.
Of course, while thisTerminator 2remake inGrand Theft Auto 5is quite in-depth and likely took a lot of time to make, this isn’t the first instance of fans attempting to mod movies, film’s scenes, or cinematic homages in the game. As a matter of fact, one modder recently took inspiration from Marvel Entertainment’sLoganto generate animpressive animation sequenceoverlaying assets from the open world title that involved one of the superhero flick’s characters, X-23, wreaking absolute havoc on a pack of bad guys.
Taking all of this into consideration, it seems like there’s only a matter of time before aGrand Theft Auto 5fan decides to use mods in conjunction with the game’s Rockstar Editor to make an original, full-fledged motion picture all their own. Although it would take an incredible amount of dedication, at the very least, it could go on to be an interesting experiment in contemporary storytelling.
Grand Theft Auto 5is available now for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
