All eyes turned toGhost of Yōteion July 10 as the upcoming title from Sucker Punch Productions was spotlighted in its ownState of Play. Roughly 20 minutes of gameplay information was capped off with the reveal of two new limited-edition PlayStation 5 consoles, both themed after the game.

The State of Play premiered on thePlayStationYouTube channel, but a dedicatedPlayStation Blogpost went up after the livestream detailing theGhost of Yōtei-themed limited-edition PS5s and their accompanying DualSense controllers. Both stylized consoles bear the same pattern, Mount Yōtei rendered in brushstrokes which transition into lines inspired by kintsugi, the traditional Japanese practice of repairing shattered ceramics – one in gold and one in black. “The design captures the essence and aesthetic of kintsugi, symbolizing beauty in imperfection and mirroring Atsu’s own personal journey of healing and resilience amidst the adversities she’ll face along the way,” saysPlayStation Blog.

TheGhost of Yōteiconsole bundles are only available for thePlayStation 5 slim, the slightly smaller model introduced prior to therelease of the PS5 Pro.The bundle comes in both the gold and black patterns, includes a similarly themed DualSense, and a digital copy of the game, despite the included console having a disc drive. Purchasing the bundle entitles you to pre-order content as well, including a unique in-game mask, and “a set of seven PSN avatars featuring concept art of Atsu and each member of the Yōtei Six.”

Both the gold- and black-patternedGhost of YōteiDualSense controllers can be purchased separately. Also available as a separate accessory are the gold-colored console faceplate sets. Two Stunning Special Edition Consoles

Matching The Series' Style

While the lack of plates for the original PS5 is a bit disappointing, the designs for the consoles and DualSense are wonderful. Both the gold and black colorings are very striking, and there was clearly a lot of thought put into them. A quote on thePlayStation Blogfrom Sucker Punch’s creative director, Jason Connell, points out that the designs mimic “the hand-drawn icons Atsu marks on her map, a kintsugi-style effect pulled from her Ghost mask, and brushstrokes reminiscent of her Sumi-e paintings.”

Ghost of Yōteiappears poised to followGhostof Tsushima’s legacy as a gorgeous game, so it feels fitting that two new limited-edition consoles would have such eye-catching designs. The gold pattern is clearly the original intention, as evidenced by the black not receiving plates sold separately, and also honoring the process behind kintsugi, where ceramics are repaired with lacquer and gold. Anticipation is building steadily forGhost of Yōtei, and these new limited-edition PS5s are sure to draw some eyes before release day on October 2.
