General Hospitallegend Kin Shriner has responded to his fan-favorite character Scott Baldwin being written out of the show after more than 40 years. Shriner played the long-running Port Charles villain since 1977, and is considered one of the most iconic actors in American soap opera history. However, after having spells in and out of the show in recent times, it seems like Scotty’s absences are now set to become a permanent fixture, and the show will continue without him.
PerParade, it seems that Shriner’s character has been written out of the show, and the legacy star has bid farewell to Scotty Baldwin. Via a post on hisXaccount, Shriner posted an image of what used to be hisGeneral Hospitaldressing room, revealing that the room has now been given to fellowGeneral Hospitalstar Jens Austin Astrup, who plays Kai Taylor. He captioned the image, stating “This day comes for all actors,” and thanking theGeneral Hospitalfanbase for their support over the years. Check out the Tweet below:

What This Means For General Hospital
This Is Likely The End For Scotty Now
While there have been times in the past that Shriner has been absent from the show, this seems like a pretty definitive conclusion to hisGeneral Hospitalstory. Although he has been on the soap for almost half a century, Shriner has taken this in his stride, and simply attributes it to something actors have to go through at some stage. There is no question he has been an important part ofGeneral Hospital’s history, and his legacy will hopefully live on through the other cast members.
It’s not unheard of for characters to leave soaps, or be killed off, only to have shock returns years later; in fact, it’s acommon soap opera trope. But, given Shriner’s age, it feels unlikely that will happen with Scott. Indeed, back in 2023, Shriner tweeted on X, “I just found out Scotty @GeneralHospital was written out…” but he made a return to the show not long after that. However, the character’s last appearance on screen came in August 2024, and this, coupled with the change of dressing room, would seemingly indicate that this is now the end for Scott.

All Good Things Must Come To An End
Shriner has been a faithful servant toGeneral Hospitalfor almost 50 years, and what the future has in store for him after so long on a soap is unclear, and it might be that he decides to retire.
