The actress has played the role of Sasha Gilmore on the show since 2018, in a role that started as recurring, and then became a series regular part. The role marked Mattsson’s first series regular role, but there are hints that she could return.
PerTV Insider, it has been confirmed thatMattsson concluded her seven-year run as Sasha on July 18, with the character departing Port Charles with her baby, to live with her parents. A representative for the show stated that the decision was made so that Mattsson could pursue other projects, but she could return. Check out comments below:
“There was a good time in the storyline for Sofia to leave to pursue other opportunities in film and TV. But she is open for a return in the future.”
Mattsson herself discussed her time on the show, and how she felt emotional leaving, but also admitted she would consider a return to soaps in the future.
“I’d have to see what the role was, but I’m definitely not opposed to coming back to the soap world. I think being on a soap is one of the best jobs you can have as an actress.”
