Today, the video game publisher and developer Square Enix confirmed the release date ofFinal Fantasy 15’sEpisode Prompto DLCfor later this month on June 11, 2025. The news regarding the expansion came about in a rather unorthodox way, as the launch time for the add-on popped up during an E3 2017 trailer forFF15 Universe– that is, a sub-franchise that collects different games, DLC, films, and more related to the title – which also detailed a lot more to come to the RPG sequel as “the universe keeps expanding.”
As seen below in theFinal Fantasy 15Universetrailer, other than the release date for Episode Prompto, there are no new assets on display, as the latest video only rehashes previously-seen content from the DLC’s teaser clip from a while back. However,FF 15is also set to receive a new update in June called “Regalia Type-D” that offers some vehicular off-roading. Not to mention, Square Enix also hinted at a mobile experience calledKing’s Knight: Wrath of the Dark Dragonon the way for Android and iOS devices.
Of course, it’s already known thatFinal Fantasy 15received an update for the PS4 Pro to take full advantage of its hardware capabilities, but Square Enix wanted to ensure Microsoft fans that the RPG will cater toward the newXbox One Xas well. So, the trailer above also states thatFF 15supports “Project Scorpio,” which was the original code name for the enhanced Xbox system.
Circling back to Episode Prompto, sinceFinal Fantasy 15already released Episode Gladiolus and has another standalone story on deck starring everyone’s favorite shutterbug companion, fans should also look forward to Episode Ignis as well. Not to mention, developers have beenasking for fans' input on story DLC, so it’s quite possible that there are far more expansions to come inFinal Fantasy 15beyond those for Noctis and his pals.
