Today, the video game publisher and developer Ubisoft officially announced its decision to bring the first-person shooterFar Cry 3to current generation systems, with the title set to receive a “Classic Edition” for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. While the game’s Classic Edition will initially be included for free inFar Cry 5’sSeason Pass, it looks as if the title will eventually become available as a standalone item for consoles at some point later this year.
As seen below in the announcement trailer forFar Cry 3’s Classic Edition, Ubisoft states that the title will be given as a free bonus to players who purchase the Season Pass forFar Cry 5and that it will be available “four weeks early.” The short clip also reveals that it will be available in summer 2018, which infers that the game will likely have a release on its own after being given toFC5’s Season Pass owners first.
For those who never got the chance to playFar Cry 3, myriad critics showered the title withpositive reviewsdue to the game’s tightly refined mechanics, lush tropical environments, and engaging storyline. What’s more is that the third entry in the first-person shooter franchise includes what many consider to be one of the most intriguing video game villains of the last-gen era, Vaas Montenegro.
