Several months ago, Bethesda confirmed thatFallout 76players will be able to acquire and use nuclear armaments, and went so far as to describehow nukes workin the forthcoming multiplayer post-apocalyptic RPG. Now, for those who want to see what it looks like when a nuclear bomb actually explodes in the online-only game, they’re in luck thanks to fresh footage of the phenomenon surfacing on the Web.
As seen in the video below, several Vault Dwellers can be found standing on a precipice overlooking a swathe of hilly, mountainous forestry as a nuclear bomb rockets toward the earth to detonate on impact and leave devastation in its wake. Following a lengthy animation of a giant mushroom cloud, severalFallout 76players sprint toward ground zero only to discover that high doses of radiation are emanating from the site, killing practically anyone without the proper gear standing in the nuke’s blast radius after just a few seconds.
While it’s difficult to discern from the above footage, the affected area of a nuclear explosion inFallout 76is huge, for it apparently has the capacity to destroy entire settlements in almost an instant. With this being the case, Bethesda has designed it so that firing off a nuke is not something that happens regularly, and is more of an end game activity that occurs after hunting down and accumulating nuclear codes, that’s then followed by finding a control room from which to launch it.
All things considered, there’s still plenty more to learn about what’s to come inFallout 76, so players thankfully won’t have much longer to find out for themselves what else Bethesda has in store for the title. With the multiplayer action-RPG’s beta taking place a few weeks from now andincluding the full game, fans should definitely get a better idea of the title before it launches next month.
