The Traitors US Is Shaking Things Up
Since its debut in 2023,The Traitors UShas had great critical acclaim. It’s now been nominated for six Primetime Emmy Awards, andit’s very likely that it will receive even more nominations this year, including for best host. Out of its five previous nominations, it’s won three–Outstanding Casting (2023), Outstanding Host for Alan Cumming (2024), and Outstanding Reality Competition Program (2024).
It’s shocking thatThe Voicewasn’t nominated for the first time since 2012. However, in a crowded field of so many reality competition TV shows, only so many programs can be nominated.The Traitors US, RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Amazing Race, Survivor,andTop Chefare all beloved and quality series, so shows have to be at the tops of their games in order to be recognized.
Through 2024,Survivor, which premiered in 2000, has been nominated for 69 Emmys total, and won seven, whileRuPaul’s Drag Race, which premiered in 2009, has been nominated for 71 and won 29.The Amazing Race, which premiered in 2001, has been nominated for 97 Emmys and won 15, whileTop Chef, which premiered in 2006, has been nominated for 50 and won two.
