In an attempt to create a more open dialogue with the community, someDestiny 2developers took to Bungie’s weekly blog to give some clues as to what is currently being worked on in the studio.
In the latest “This Week at Bungie” blog post,Destiny 2sandbox design lead Josh Hamrick detailed some of the projects that the sandbox team is tackling currently, and provided an update on some upcoming changes that will make it to the game in the coming months.

According to Hamrick, the upcoming Mod system rework will give players more ability uptime and overall increased power output. The intention is to increase player power and reduce the amount of redundant or useless mods that plague player inventories.
The Mod 2.0 changes were originally detailedlast week in the Bungie Developer Update, and the change is set to hitDestiny 2in a February update, likely alongside the Crimson Days live event. Hamrick also noted that the Exotic weapon and armor updates were coming along well. These changes are to make exotics feel more unique and have them stand out when compared to many of their legendary counterparts.
Other minor updates include vague hints at some weapon balancing that will come withthe launch of Season 3, as well as a mention of “new content to put smiles on all your faces” set to launch sometime this year. Quality of life changes, like some of the ones mentioned in Hamrick’s update, are whatDestiny 2desperately needs. It’s possible these changes could help improve public opinion ofDestiny 2, which has been hit by some controversies over the past few months.
In the meantime, Crimson Days is on the horizon forDestiny 2players,bringing a new Crucible game modeand new daily milestones to complete. It will likely also bring with it many of the “February Changes” like Nightfall strike scoring, PC Tower chat, and Exotic Duplicate Reduction.
Destiny 2is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
